What is Filecoin Foundation

Filecoin Foundation (FF) is an organization that facilitates governance of the Filecoin network, funds critical development projects, supports the growth of the Filecoin ecosystem, and advocates for Filecoin and the decentralized web.

In 2017, the creators of Filecoin envisioned that an independent Filecoin Foundation would serve as the long-term governance body for the Filecoin Ecosystem. They gave the Foundation the mandate to “grow an open ecosystem for decentralized storage” and to “give developers an open and sustainable platform to build, enhance and monetize those services.” They wanted the Foundation to be modeled on Foundations for other open source projects like the Apache Software Foundation, the Mozilla Foundation and the Linux Foundation.

The Filecoin Foundation operates independently of Protocol Labs, the organization that designed and built the Filecoin network. As a member of our early-stage team, you will have the opportunity to help define our growth as the organization scales. This is a full-time position, remote from anywhere in the world.

Job Description

The Events Coordinator is a key role in our work to grow the Filecoin community. You will be on the front line, creating and contributing to events that bring together Filecoin stakeholders, teach others about the decentralized web, and strengthen the network. Working closely with the Head of Events and the Events Lead, you will work across the entire organization to plan and execute events that support our mission. You will also support our participation at other events, including logistical, staffing, and messaging needs. This role requires keen attention to detail, prioritization and detailed communication, and follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Create, maintain and continuously organize event productivity spaces (Notion/AirTable/Google Drive/Slack), production schedules, and team calls and notes
• Manage and maintain various schedules, speakers, and stakeholders
• Maintain industry calendars of main Crypto/Web3/Web2 events
• Support the Event Lead to manage all aspects of sponsorship deliverables and FIL event production
• Support vendor sourcing, contracting and deliverables
• Support Filecoin Foundation swag brainstorm and creation
• Support team site visits, venue walk throughs, and company and team off-sites
• Supporting events on-site in various capacities from: registration, stage management, swag distribution, food and beverage, lodging, etc
• Maintaining event attendee CRM database and track goal milestones Supporting the Filecoin Foundation Marketing and Communications team, as needed, including Orbit community events and special projects

Your Profile

• 2+ years of experience producing and managing virtual and in-person events
• Extensive event logistics and project management experience
• Experience with open source technology communities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional organization skills and a keen attention to detail
• Flexible and adaptable; able to seamlessly switch priorities as needed and balance short-term deliverables with long-term strategic goals while producing a high-caliber work product
• Team player who thrives in a high-energy, collaborative work environment
• Bridge-builder within and between organizations
• Ability to keep track of multiple workstreams
• Ability to see the big picture even while operating in deep in the weeds
• Knowledge of Customer Relationship Management systems and Event Registration tools
• Willingness to learn, grow, and have fun
• Experience working with remote, internationally distributed teams
• Passion for the decentralized web and information access 
• Able and willing to travel globally up to 20% of the year
