Web3 CTO/Founding Engineer

The venture-backed early-stage startup, Privy Photos, is seeking a CTO/Founding Engineer to help us protect sensitive content from leaks and abuse. Our Founding team consists of three Harvard Business School MBAs with technical, operating, and product expertise. We’re passionate about putting users in the driver’s seat when it comes to their content and believes no one should be worried about their content being shared without their consent. What we’re building: Privy is a blockchain-enabled platform that helps people protect their content from leaks and abuse. Combining a Web2 experience with Web3 infrastructure, Privy sits at the intersection between ownership, privacy, and one-to-one sharing. We’re taking a community-driven, strategic approach targeting GenZ and millennial women and LGBTQIA+ folks, aka the Euphoria generation for our first go-to-market use case. Who you are: A full-stack software developer/mobile architect with product leadership in your DNA - your proven product execution skills and passion for solving big problems leads your charge. From architecture to product deployment and beyond, you’ll lead technical efforts in a cross-functional team that builds collaboratively towards the future of information security. You eat libraries and development frameworks for breakfast, and you probably spend more time on GitHub than you care to admit to a non-technical company. You’re comfortable contributing at “day zero” and thrive in an environment where experimenting and rapid iteration is the norm. You’ll be working directly with the CEO to thoughtfully research, develop, and code version 1.5 of our MVP and take our first product to market. Must haves: 3-5 years of full-stack (front end+back end) development experience with consumer-facing mobile platforms using React Native, with a knack for JavaScript/TypeScript and good state management (Redux / MobX). Show us your GitHub! Some familiarity/context with smart contracts and the writing/execution of smart contracts. Solidity and OpenZeppelin standards knowledge are highly desirable. Familiarity with traditional server architecture for mobile applications (experience with AWS) to develop high-quality, highly scalable, and secure software. Application architecture knowledge with respect to centralized vs. decentralized systems, and how users can benefit from each. Experience leading opinionated software development in an independent manner. Strong verbal and written communication skills with a strong track record of communicating highly technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Very nice to have (though not absolutely required): Technical hiring experience and/or technical lead experience. Development background with projects in cryptography.
