They will be able to thrive in a startup environment by bringing a unique perspective to the subjects they cover, and a strategic understanding of dot.LA place’s in a crowded tech media space. They should be excited to “roll up their sleeves'' and play different roles in a fast-paced newsroom, working alongside a team of fellow reporters, editors and social media producers.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Pitch, report and write original articles relevant to the fintech, crypto and venture capital scenes in Los Angeles and Southern California.
  • Contribute daily news articles on venture capital investments in Los Angeles- and Southern California-based startups.
  • Contribute newsletter essays at least once (1) per week for dot.LA’s daily newsletter.
  • Be available to work at least three (3) days per week between Monday and Friday.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a journalist/reporter, preferably covering finance, tech, and/or business
  • Clean news-writing skills and a knowledge of AP style
  • Experience developing and maintaining sources
  • Experience building and engaging with an active online audience
  • Excellent, team-focused interpersonal skills
