WHO WE NEED

We are looking for a seasoned investment professional, that has that has broad and diverse experience researching and investing across multiple asset classes and investment types.   The top candidate will have knowledge and experience with developing investment processes and procedures, researching and investing in traditional and alternative asset classes, ideally with some crypto experience as well as with public and private investments and vehicles.  Arootah is well funded, and the principals of the firm have deep investment industry expertise, and vast, influential connections. The Director of Investments will be entrepreneurial and energized with the opportunity to join a firm in the initial stages of building an impactful, valuable, and lucrative enterprise.  

WHAT YOU WILL DO

As Director of Investments your primary responsibility will be for designing, building, and managing the investment process for both the Arootah Venture Studio and the Arootah Capital Fund.  This will include conducting detailed research across asset classes and investment vehicles, due diligence, asset allocation, portfolio design, portfolio analysis, portfolio optimization and risk management. Proven experience evaluating and monitoring external investments and effectively communicating recommendations to senior management.

In addition, this individual will be heavily involved in our Hedge Fund & Family Office Business Advisory Services group, providing advice and counsel to Arootah clients who seek help with their own investment policies and procedures. This will involve consulting to some of the leading hedge funds and investment firms in the world and sharing your experience in investment management.

Arootah Capital

• Identify and invest in both public and private investment opportunities that align with Arootah’s investment criteria.
• Design investment research and portfolio management Process.
• Perform due diligence.
• Portfolio capital allocation.
• Portfolio risk management.

Arootah Venture Studio - Arootah's Venture Studio marries financial capital, experienced human capital, and analytical rigor with the goal of pairing the significant challenges and opportunities facing society today with the best potential solutions.

• Develop an algorithmic process to recommend the best ideas to tackle the greatest challenges of our time, i.e., Obesity, Global Warming, etc.
• Identify Chief Executive Officers to design, build and operate companies aligned with these ideas.
• Build companies in-house via the venture studio.
• Exit strategies for companies.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Technical skills

• Experience in valuation analysis via financial modelling.
• Strong research and investigation skills with a depth of knowledge of public and subscription-based sources.
• ESG/CSR Investing.
• Experience analyzing public and private market deals.
• Experience with cash flow modeling and investment valuation techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Superior Microsoft Excel skills including advanced functions.
• Ability to produce well designed, professional investment memos.

Soft skills

• Self-motivated and driven.
• Collaborative, diplomatic, and can cross-functionally partner with different stakeholders.
• Experience in/comfort with a role with a degree of ambiguity, requiring proactive analysis and action.
• Proven to work independently, prioritize work, and achieve results.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate with executives.
• Ardent desire to learn continually and grow professionally, driven to master the products they're supporting/offering.
• Outstanding analytical skills, detail-oriented, proactive, and self-motivated

Preferred Experiences & Abilities/ Education

• BA required.
• CFA Preferred. MBA a plus.
• Crypto and multi strat experience.
• Strong risk management skills
• Prior experience in research at a hedge fund, investment bank, family office, and/or venture capital firm.
• Knowledge of coding (Python) would be an advantage
• Ability to adapt to a fast-changing world.
• Be a self-starter who works well as a team member.
• A minimum of 10 years of research and investment experience.
