If that sounds like you, join us!1871 seeks a professionally driven, detail-oriented, and highly motivated summer intern to support its Corporate Innovation Team. The 1871 Corporate Innovation Team works closely with corporate partners (several Fortune 100 organizations) to identify and execute new paths to innovation, sponsorship, and organizational growth. This role is excellent for those interested in venture capital and working with tech start-ups.

Duties and responsibilities

This role will be working with the Senior Manager of Corporate Innovation and the larger corporate innovation team in scouting the best startups in the world to participate in our Insurance and Blockchain/Web3 Innovation Labs, including:

• Startup Scouting: Research and compile lists of potential startups to participate in industry labs and solve corporate partner challenges
• Market Research: Identify and evaluate specific business opportunities and market trends. Specific activities may include conducting competitive analysis, interviewing subject matter experts, and surveying startups.
• Strategic Analysis and Insight Development: conduct analysis of large data sets, build and manage a database, and develop strategic insights based on data analysis to inform team decisions.

Projects May Include:

• Performing market research and identifying the best technology startups in the world to solve a partner’s challenge related to their core business objectives
• Compiling large scouting lists, synthesizing data, and making recommendations based on research and analysis of startups to participate in Insurance and Blockchain/Web3 Industry Innovation Labs.

Requirements

• Interest in Tech/Entrepreneurship and its intersection with the insurance industry and/or Blockchain/Web3 applications.
• Strong interest in technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship
• Self-starter and ability to work autonomously and in cross-functional teams
• Ability to learn quickly and conduct research
• General business acumen
• Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
• Strong level of comfort analyzing large amounts of data
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Basic computer processing skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite (particularly Microsoft Excel and/or Google Spreadsheets)
• Previous experience using Crunchbase, CB Insights, or Pitchbook preferred but not required
• College coursework or previous internship experience is preferred but not required
• Preference will be given to college students entering their junior or senior year of college or MBA candidates
