At Altas Technologies we build robust, fully automated systems to predict and trade cryptocurrency markets and are in the process of extending our trading capabilities from crypto to global equity markets. You’ll join at a very exciting time in the growth of the team, and will be able to contribute to our success in scaling the strategy beyond crypto to the equities markets. As a technology-oriented and scientifically-minded group, we design and build our own cutting-edge systems, from high-performance trading platforms to large-scale data analysis and research infrastructure.

Your Core Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Data Engineer to join our high-performance, dedicated, multi-disciplinary team, with a background in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Robotics, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics. The one thing we all have in common, regardless of our individual backgrounds, is a creative and scientific mindset. You will not get a lot of top-down instruction. You'll get directional advice, useful frameworks, access to interesting challenges, and plenty of freedom to execute as you see fit. We are looking for a Data Engineer with strong eye for detail, who will own our data infrastructure and will be(come) the specialist in data curation, quality, completeness, and reliability. This is a critical role in the organization as the data platform drives a huge range of trading analysis, simulation, reporting and insights. You will work together with developers to optimize data warehousing, and with researchers to onboard, curate, and analyze (alternative) datasets to improve our trading strategies.

  • You will have full ownership of the design and development of our data infrastructure, and manage processes to uphold the integrity of our data;
  • You will provide support to researchers for their data needs, including onboarding, curation, and analysis of (alternative) datasets to add orthogonal / contextual information;
  • You will operate technical solutions to systematically monitor data quality and reliability, identifying and resolving data issues to ensure trading / research decisions are made on high-quality data.

Your Skills and Experience

  • An advanced degree with excellent grades in any quantitative field involving big data;
  • Experienced in Python, Postgre(SQL), APIs. Experience with (py)Spark preferred;
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale data warehousing, curation, and quality management;
  • Hands-on experience with large messy (real-world) datasets. Affinity / experience in trading preferred, such as processing raw unstandardized equities data including corporate actions;
  • Strong eye for detail and highly structured, eager to understand data at its most granular level;
  • Serious about clean code, simple but well-architected systems, and continuous improvement;
  • Sense of ownership taking full responsibility and accountability for your contributions.
